Dear 2-308 Families,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. I want to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Daniela Kleva and I will be your child's 2nd grade teacher this year. It is my first year as a classroom teacher at TALES. For the past year and a half I have been one of the substitute teachers working at TALES.

I am looking forward working with you and your child in order to help him or her grow and learn each and every day. We will have many wonderful experiences and learn many new things from each other and together throughout this year.

I believe in creating a community inside and outside of the classroom. In order to create this community, communication between parents and the teacher is very important. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You can write me a note and send it in your child's take home folder, e-mail me at mskleva@gmail.com, or call the school at (718) 445-5730 and leave a message with the secretary. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone or by sending a note home in your child's ‘take home folder’. You can also visit our class website at http://tales2ndgrade.educatorpages.com/ to keep updated with events within the classroom.

Lastly, there a few things to go over for the start of the year; your child will have a folder that will travel in their schoolbag, back and forth from home to school every day. This ‘take home folder’ contains any important notices, letters, completed work and your child’s homework, so please check it every day. It is important that you also check your child's homework each day as well. Homework, at this level, may require some parental involvement; therefore please be aware of what your child is assigned for homework. Homework packets will be given and collected every Monday and it requires a parent or guardian signature.

More information regarding classroom policies and procedures, homework and the curriculum will be given out on Back to School night. A notice will go home in the near future with more information about Back to School night.

Please feel free to let me know about questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Ms. Kleva
